HOME SWEET HOMESTEAD

Classic Western rusticity meets modern-day elegance at Avalon Ranch, producer-director Jim Wilson's sprawling Calabasas compound.

When you enter Avalon Ranch, the first words you might hear are “Do you know how to walk a horse?” The ranch's owner, producer-director Jim Wilson, might just grab you to lend a hand. And there's no shortage of chores to do on the 115-acre spread he calls home, along with his wife, Theresa, and their two daughters, three cats, three dogs, two pygmy goats, two rabbits, chickens, ducks, horses and untold wildlife, including coyotes, bobcats and mountain lions. “The animals brought us here,” Jim says. .
