Statement Calabasas Magazine Publisher & Creative Director Richard Bleiweiss Sweeps Away the Competition with Eight wins at the 2006 Maggie Awards

(Calabasas, CA) - Richard Bleiweiss, Publisher and Creative Director of Calabasas: Life at Its Best was awarded two 2006 Maggie Awards by the Western Publications Association on April 21 in a Los Angeles ceremony. In addition, he was honored with six awards for Emmy Magazine, where he also serves as Art Director.  The 55th annual awards are the most prestigious given to magazines published west of the Mississippi River, or distributed solely west of the Mississippi, and this year received more than 2,000 entries. Bleiweiss’ had a total of 25 nominations, a record for the Maggie Awards.

  Calabasas: Life at Its Best won awards for "Best Color Editorial Layout/Consumer" and "Best Single Editorial Enhanced Photograph/Trade & Consumer."  The publication, now in its second year, was nominated for a total of nine awards, while Bleiweiss’ other title Emmy Magazine, was nominated for sixteen awards—the highest of any title this year.   "It's truly a special honor to be recognized by your peers, for all of the hard work that you put in over the year," Bleiweiss said. "I'm especially thankful to all of the incredible photographers, illustrators and writers for sticking with us and making these magazines stand out above the rest."

The current issue of Calabasas: Life at Its Best is now available on both coasts and is already generating incredible buzz.  Their most stunning issue yet, it features cover star Rebecca Romijn, a rare, exclusive interview with American business legend Lee Iacocca, and exclusive photo spreads with television stars Sarah Chalke, Dominic Purcell and Sophia Bush, photographed by her legendary father Charles Bush.
