August Issue Highlights the Array of Musicians that Call the West Valley Home

Los Angeles, CA (July 2005) – Award-winning magazine Calabasas: Life At Its Best will hit Southern California stands with THE MUSIC ISSUE, a culmination of rockers, pop stars, songwriters, and other musicians who have all turned the West Valley into a music Mecca. Calabasas: Life at its Best uncovers the various ties that the Valley has to the music world, where music is written, scores are composed, and talent hides away from the glitz and glamour of Sunset Strip.

Cover girl Gina Gershon opens the issue and lets readers into her life as an original Valley girl, sharing her days of growing up with Lenny Kravitz and her love affair with music. Flip to a twenty-seven page spread that highlights current and classic artists, who happen to all live within a ten square mile radius of each other, emphasizing the breadth and depth of the Valley’s grip on the music industry.

"Over the last few years, Calabasas and its surrounding towns have become an internationally recognized music machine," says Publisher & Creative Director Rich Bleiweiss. His gorgeous layouts and breath-taking photographs set the stage for the rich stories that Calabasas unfolds this month. "We've barely scratched the surface of our local musical landscape...sit back, relax, turn up the volume and enjoy the music."

A treasure trove of music trivia and little known facts, this issue exposes secrets from the likes of Bob Eubanks, who used his Hidden Hills home as collateral for a bank loan in order to bring the Beatles to the Hollywood Bowl. Then there’s Norm’s, a small guitar shop on Ventura, whose famous clientele include Bob Dylan and George Harrison, both whom actually went straight to owner Norm Harris’ apartment to pick out their rare six-strings before the store was open. Calabasas: Life at its Best has put together an issue that captures the heart and soul of music, and we’ve barely even started.

THE MUSIC ISSUE hits the stands and over 35,000 homes on August 1, 2005.
